Morgan Stanley Smith Barney’s Introduction into Social Media

With the conclusion of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney’s trial regarding letting their 17,000 financial advisors use LinkedIn and Twitter over the next several months. Out of the 600 advisors that were involved in this trial, about 40% of them saying that they have quoted new business from their use of social media. Then out of the new business they have acquired from social media, 60% of their new customers have over $1 million dollars worth of assets.

Morgan Stanley’s financial advisors will be using pre-approved  and written Tweets and will have to submit LinkedIn posts for approval. Even though social media can be frightening at times, knowing and understanding the social media regulations will prevent your organization from holding back.
